Hi everyone - I know it has been some time since I have shared something on the blog, but life is crazy busy at the moment, do you find the same on your side?
I came across this Mexican theme bridal shower on facebook, and was just amazed at the effort and detail that the planners put into this celebration. Another thing that caught myattention was the absolute joy and love that you could see for the lady of the hour, visible in every picture! From the photographer: This spectacular kitchen tea was organised around an incredible bride that always puts everyone above herself. The idea was to show her our sincere appreciation for all she has done for us. Having attended numerous kitchen tea’s in our lives we decided to host one that’s not your run of the mill kitchen tea but rather a celebration as it should be. What greater theme than the colourful celebratory genre that is Mexican Fiesta / Frida Kahlo. We also tried to refrain from the normal kitchen tea and bring a dash of sass into the event without making anyone uncomfortable. This was an amazing group of bridesmaids – each with their own sense of style that reflected clearly in the celebration. This theme also proofed to be quite easy in the sense that anything goes as long as it’s fun and colourful which made it easy for the bridesmaids to express their flair with the tasks given to them. Enjoy the beautiful images from Madeleine Maré Photography x

Michelle and Darius decided to celebrate the arrival of their first born with all the special people in their life's. Friends, family, nieces, grandma's, grandpa's, aunts and uncles all gathered for this celebration of life.
What I love about this 'baby shower', was that instead of a theme, beautiful food took centre stage. As Marethe, the photographer puts it, it was a lovely(read lekker) crowd of people, the food was AMAZING and bags full of presents for mom, dad and new baby, exactly the way it should be. Enjoy the pictures, sorry for the cravings ,,,,,few people can do beautiful food like V&Me. And as Julia Child said "A party without cake, is just a meeting!' Well, this was definitely a party. I had such a blast planning this bridal shower; only received two instructions from Maid of Honor, Chantelle, it has to be a mermaid theme and it has to fun!
Enjoy the pictures!
Lately I have been a little obsessed with the color combination of Rose & Indigo, and while working on our DONUT DIY a few weeks ago, playing around to create the chocolate brushstrokes, I just though to myself that all these elements and colors will make a beautiful theme for a bridal shower.
And this is how the idea for our very first, officially styled shoot started taking shape. I also wanted to use the opportunity to showcase the work of all the very, talented service providers in the Plan Me Pretty Directory, and in the end, it worked out so well. Thank you to everyone for that! So I really hope that you find some inspiration (or a service provider!) from our work, but most of all, just enjoy browsing through these beautiful images. To all our readers, please let us know if this is something you would like to see on a regular basis. And to all our listed vendors, please let me know if this is something you would like to be part of in the future. The Table and Flowers
Oh be still my beating heart! What else is there to say, gold, pink, black, bubbles, golden tattoo's.
So I will leave it to Marissa, owner of Konfetti Love to tell us a bit more about the event and where her inspiration came from! Detail I love most? Those Macaron Favors are too cute and I just adore them! Enjoy the pictures. From Marissa:
If you are dreaming of a chic and stylish bridal shower to celebrate your upcoming nuptials, this chic black, pink and gold theme will have you covered in no time. It embraces all things girlish and showcases such lovely contrasts and textures.
I stumbled across this beautiful vintage table on Instagram and I just loved the way it was put together. Vintage, but old school vintage. And I wanted to feature it specifically to show how nice a table can look by putting together a wide variety of vintage items that you can easily find around your home or in Granny's home.
This function was styled by Candice from Simply Fabulous Events - Event and Party Planner in Kwa-Zulu Natal that specialises in weddings, private celebrations, children’s parties and corporate events. From Candice: We loved putting together this vintage themed Bridal shower for a wonderful bride-to-be in Durban North.

Today we are featuring a Hen's Party submitted and photographed by Robin Davie Photography. I love the brightness and color of the decor and flowers, plus the use of bra's, sunglasses and umbrellas as decor is such a clever idea! Enjoy!
This day was an absolutely spectacular one with Ashleigh's bridesmaids and mom planning everything to perfection. The white & pink theme was offset so beautifully with little pops of lime green, and there wasn't a single face in the group without a smile (and a couple of joyful tears) throughout the event. Fantastic Mr. Fox Kitchen Tea
I have been looking forward the whole week to sharing this pretty, quirky and floral Fantastic Mr. Fox themed Kitchen Tea, captured beautifully by the very talented Robyn of Robyn Davie Photography.
The event was hosted at Buitengeluk Venue, Broadacres. Hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I did {I mean, how can you not?!} and thank you to everyone involved for sharing with our readers!
All styling and floral work was executed by Tamyrin of Bespoke Blooms:
This little event was actually a kitchen tea for a very quirky person in the film industry. It can be quite a juvenile theme, so I had to figure out a way to make it less juvenile and more adult. I did this by using very beautiful, luxurious flowers such as orchids, hydrangeas and tulips, including interesting little items such as air plants, lotus pods, dragon fruit and pomegranates and also by using a lot of neutral colours to tone down the bright colours of the theme being orange, blue and red. Lots of wood and greenery and green flowers were used to achieve this.
Details I Love?
~ The Mrs. Fox on the Cake. ~ It goes without saying, but the floral work is stunning! ~ The animal details - look out for the animals hiding in the decor. Spot the rabbits, budgie and owl. ~ The silver apple. ~ Mr. Fox Stationery by Lily Young. ~ The felt fox ears for every guest!

Sexy safari bridal shower. Firstly, what a fun theme! Secondly, I am at a loss for words at the creativity and detail that brings this theme to life!
Wow, Bunting & Blossoms has once again outdone themselves, thanks for sharing X Details I love? - The cake pops and - The iced biscuits, specifically the one with the abs on! What is your favorite element?
This 1950's 'Good House Wife' themed bridal shower made me chuckle and also made me want to plan one immediately (anyone out there - I am ready whenever you are). It is so refreshing, funny and full of color.
This bridal shower was styled by the bridesmaids of the bride and you can see that they absolutely loved doing this for their friend. From ironing boards to aprons, it had it all. The guest favors were wooden spoons (affordable and useful!) and they also had a prize for the 'spiffiest' dressed house wife. All printable's were downloaded from the Wedding Inspirations website, see link below (they also have some great games that you can print). Enjoy and please comment with any other fun theme ideas!
This printable set includes everything and anything you need, I am not even going to go through the list, go and have a look for yourself.

“A girl should be two things: classy & fabulous” ~ Coco Chanel
Lauren from Work of Heart put together this very sophisticated and elegant Coco Chanel inspired 30th Birtday. From Lauren: "Chantelle wanted a classy & fabulous 30th birthday party, & so we decided on a Coco Chanel theme. Inspired by Coco Chanel’s sophisticated style, we chose a palette of black & white, with gold accents. Décor element included framed Coco Chanel quotes, custom printed balloons with the classic double C insignias & black satin bows. We also included fashion inspired props like a black wrought iron dressmakers dummy & black velvet jewelry busts dripping in pearls. We were lucky to find the perfect venue - Isabella’s Cake & Food Shop in Northcliff; its striking black & white wallpaper provided the perfect backdrop. Natalie of Cherry Whisk made the cake, cupcakes & cookies that had us all swooning & drooling. Carmen Niemand from Nestling Photography beautifully captured every detail with her passion for photography"
Wow - 2015 is here! I cannot believe how 2014 has flown by, but at the same time I am so excited for the coming year, lots of plans and projects. Best wishes to everyone for the year ahead, there is something special about starting a brand new year, an excitement and determination that we should try to hold onto for as long as possible.
This week I am sharing with you our last Bridal Shower Plan Me Pretty did for 2014. The focus color was mint green, which is not the easiest color to source, so I worked with a lot of custom stationary to incorporate the color into the decor. Paired with mint colored meringues (mint flavored meringues from Spar which were so tasty), endearments and white flower arrangements the look came together nicely. Enjoy! Suppliers:
When I walked into my Bridal shower I was in tears and smiled the biggest smile that I had smiled in many years. I could not believe that two people could go through so much trouble to create the special kitchen tea that they feel would bring joy to my heart. The attention to detail! It made me feel so loved and I had one of the best days ever and I will remember and cherish it forever. Much love and lots of kisses and many thank you's to Bee & Tella xxx. Well done, you guys hosted the prettiest Tea Party ever!
We had a very small wedding so the bridal shower was intimate and wonderful with lots of laughter with good friends. Many photographs were taken and I am sharing more than usual today because I want you to enjoy every little detail with me again. The event was held at Tin Roof Cafe. If you have not been, do yourself a favor. The service as always was fantastic and the food AMAZING. Enjoy the pictures! If you would like to book this Alice in Wonderland theme for your next function, please contact Barbara, click here. "Something elegant and classy, using her her wedding colors of pistachio green & white. She also loves Casa Blanca lilies. The rest is up to you" - Thanks Mari!
How can I say no to that? With my modest instructions in hand, I started planning this lovely Bridal Shower for Karen. I loved it, not only because it turned out beautifully on the day, but because I could put so much attention into little details. Once again I have to thank my very good friend Barbara, for making the stunning rosette under plates - 45 of them! And another friend, Jorrie, for spending a good couple of hours cutting and sticking things the day before. You guys are awesome. And I love my job ;)

Let's face it, planning a Bridal shower is hard work. Seriously hard work. But we each have our turn in life to plan this special day for a sister or friend, and soon they will get their turn to plan yours (or they have already).
So chin up, notebook out and get planning. Here are my top tips to plan a shower that is fun for everybody and that the bride-to-be will love you for. 1. KNOW YOUR BRIDE Now is not the time to plan the bridal shower you have dreamed of since forever. This is the bride-to-be's day, so plan something that you know she will love and will feel comfortable at. Don't plan a picnic, when you know the bride-to be is someone that itches as soon as she looks at grass. Or a high tea at the Saxon when she would rather be drinking cocktails in her favorite beach side bar. Think about what she loves, where she hangs out and what you have talked about. This is a good place to start. 2. THEME Yes, a theme is hard work. but a theme is fun. It sets the tone, it creates the overall 'picture' on the day and it makes everything else easier. It narrows down the location, invitations, food, drink, decor and dress code.
3. INVITATIONS
Your invitations should reflect the personality of your bride-to-be. And make and extra one and give it to her in a little keepsakes box after the shower. But the most important thing is to send out your invitations ON TIME. And on time means 6-8 weeks in advance. Why? Because people are busy, and sending out your invitations too late means that some guests will not be able to plan around it. Which means that important people will not be able to attend. And that sucks. And then send out the reminders again, 2 weeks and 7 days before the event. People are busy, they forget. 4. NAME TAGS & SEATING ARRANGEMENTS Name tags ensures that everyone laughs about their silly name tags. And make silly name tag jokes. They also make people remember each other's names. Which is a good thing when not everyone knows each other. You see where I am going with this? Seating arrangements ensures that everyone is sitting next to someone they know or then at least have met once or twice before. it can be uncomfortable for some people to sit next to someone they have never met, not a problem of course for our more extroverted guests. Small way to make everyone a little more comfortable. 5. GAMES a.k.a ICE-BREAKERS Ice-breaker: a thing that serves to relieve inhibitions or tension between people. Know you guest. Be creative. Choose something fun. Lead the activity. It works. 6. DRINKS Pink drinks, bubbly drinks, drinks with straws in them, drinks in little bottles. Have a least one 'focus' drink. Something pretty, something everyone will 'ooooo' and 'aaaaa' over. Have some coffee and tea. Have some alcoholic drinks. Have some yummy non-alcoholic drinks. Everyone is happy! See some pretty ideas here. 7. FOOD Make sure that there is a good selection so that everyone has something to eat. The vegetarian, the gluten intolerant, the diabetic etc. Make sure there is enough food and enough of everything. Make sure to include foods and sweet treats that are favorites of the guest of honor. 8. MUSIC It fills awkward silences. It creates mood. It makes people happy. 9. GIFTS FOR THE GUESTS What makes everyone happy - especially women? You guessed it, GIFTS, Prezzies. Put some effort into this one. In the next section I will come up with some great ideas for you. 10. THANK YOU CARDS The last task. Thank you cards make people feel that you appreciate them. Help the bride-to-be with her thank you's after the event. Make notes of the gifts each guest gave during the the bridal shower to make it easier afterwards. There we go, my top tips for a great Bridal Shower. Have something to add? I would love to know: [email protected]
Enjoy the pictures from this pretty pink & green Bridal Shower held at Good Stuff Cafe late last year. It was fun and bright and the ladies enjoyed a relaxing afternoon eating, chatting and drinking wine.
