My favourite baby shower yet!

7/13/2018

This was such a special celebration for me.  After three years of marriage, my hubby and I were blessed by falling pregnant with twin boys. As I am writing this, the two munschkins have arrived and they will be 8 weeks old this coming Sunday and they are just too beautiful for words.

What made this day so special for me is just seeing and experiencing how excited and happy all my friends and family was for us. I just felt so extremely loved, adored and indulged and that is something that I am so grateful for and will remember always.

Even now when I potter around in the babes' room, and I see all the baby things and clothes, I am  amazed how spoiled the boys were.  I was literally showered with gifts and love, what more could any girl ask for?! Everything and everyone just made my heart swell with HAPPINESS.

My shower was organised by my sister and two of my best friends. They got it so right!  There are few things that I enjoy more than an afternoon spent in the sun, bum on grass, yummy picnic spread and a cold glass of bubbly with a group of my besties. (Obviously I got the alcoholic-free kind)
And the theme? Bunnies, always bunnies for me. Paired with decor that was earthy and understated, I loved it.

Some of my favourite details?
The canvas 'guest book' - where each guest had to leave a finger print, which now hangs in my baby room.
The 'Milestone' wine tags.  Each guest had to bring a bottle of wine and attach a milestone card with a message.
The cheesecake!

Enjoy the pictures, and download all the printables at the bottom of this post.

Hello Little Unicorn!

A Unicorn theme is always fun, no matter how many times you do it - this baby shower was done at a client's private home in Johannesburg, and captured by Becca Boo Photographic Studio.

My favorite details?
- Making the edible unicorn bark, with swirling color and lots of sparkles.
- Spending hours sticking paper circles and confetti to the balloon strings - but so worth it to achieve the final result.
- The little unicorn biscuits and cupcakes.

Enjoy the pictures x

A cute Peter Rabbit baby shower to kick of this short week.  Thank you to Hello Love Photography for sharing with us.

Some of my favorite details are:
- The use of carrots and lettuce as decor pieces and floral centerpieces.
- The very large, wooden hare.
- The Peter Rabbit fondant cut-outs on the cake are beautiful!
- And the food, the food looks really yummy and summary.

Enjoy the pictures.

Woodlands theme baby shower invitation and save the date.
Picture
As I was going through these stunning images from Nadine's baby shower, I came to the realisation that I am an absolute sucker for a woodlands theme!
It really is timeless and can be used for so many different types of functions.  My favorite detail in this shower is the wooden cut-out animals, especially the wolf.

Thank you for sharing your lovely shower with us Nadine and may baby Danzig bring you lots of Joy!

Nicolette's "Pink Passion Chic" Baby Shower

3/9/2017

There is something about pink, black and gold that just works! I love the color combination and a tried and tested color combination to create a sophisticated, but fun look.

Today we are sharing a baby shower that was styled by one of our listed party and event planners, Melabee Bespoke Events and the event was held at KCC La Vie and Rose, also one our our listed venues in Johannesburg.

Enjoy the pictures, I am sorry, I got a little out of control with the food photographs, but it all just looks so good! Especially those Nutella and Peanut Butter tartlets!

From Mel:

What can I say...I'm totally in love with this theme. It suited the the mom-to-be perfectly. I can't believe that in December last year I styled her bachelorette and now her baby shower. It was truly an honour to be part of yet another milestone, Nicolette Pesev you are beautiful both inside and out, and wish you and Orce only the best memories with your bundle of joy.

Baby is Blooming - A Spring Baby Shower

9/13/2016

Today I am sharing the prettiest of  baby showers held in honor of Johannesburg based mommy-to-be, Sarah du Toit.  It is so refreshing, colorful and a feast for the eyes, thank you so much for sharing Sarah!
From Sarah ...

Theme and Decor ...

I knew the shower would be close to Spring Day in SA (Sat 3rd September). Our baby is due 17 October and I wanted to do the shower about 5 weeks before so I could still run around and be on my feet enjoying myself.
I am from the UK and love how everyone really goes to town when Spring arrives here in SA – wearing florals and bright colors.

One of my best friends, Jinx (Janine) Beron, runs The Artistry, an event planning company, so I turned to her for lots of inspiration and advice. It was her idea to make the crepe paper flowers as the back drop. We all get together one
Sunday afternoon and set to work making them – they are extremely fiddly and pregnancy hormones make me very impatient so bless, she finished most of them! The BABY foil balloons I already had from a Maternity Shoot so we re-purposed them.

Esta, owner of Koffie by die Huis, recently styled this beautiful 'Up up and Away - Hot Air Balloon' baby shower for a client.  I just love how Esta did the table styling in white and blue and the little paper decor details are too cute.
My favorite - the little cloud face blowing wind.

Pretty Vintage Baby Shower (Stork Tea)

1/14/2016

Hallo 2016!

While some unlucky souls had to be back in the office last week, I think today most of us are back in our work seats, getting ready and planning for a great year.  As today will be long (the first day after a holiday always is), we found something pretty for you to browse during your tea break.

So we are kicking of the year with this pretty vintage baby shower by Outlandish Events.

Details I loved?
- The use of orange and yellow flowers with the base color, blue.  Works so well!
- The message that the guests had to write on the back of the disposable nappies.  What a nice way to get an inspiring message from friends and family on a daily basis.

Suppliers:
Venue:  The Tearoom at Crabtree and Evelyn
Planning, Styling and Decor:  Outlandish Events
Cake and Cupcakes:  Tanya's Cupcake Cafè
Macarons:   C'est Mon Macaron
Photography:  Cheeky Pics Photography
From Ishrat - owner of Outlandish Events
"Our decor set up included a variety of flowers placed in odd items such as tea pots, cups and saucers etc.. Pearls, candles and vintage books were the finishing touches. Our Hessian runners with lace trimming added to our vintage feel. Welcome Drinks were served to the guests in glass bottles tied with hessian material. Consol glasses has become such a trendy item in party styling and we could not be caught without these added beauties! A vintage ladder, typewriter and vintage cups and saucers all contributed to our beautifully styled baby shower.
The goodies that adorned our vintage dessert table included a beautifully made cake along with cupcakes that looked like a pieces of art. They looked so good that the guests were too heartsore to gobble them down! Beautifully hand decorated by talented baker Tanya’s Cupcake Cafe.  The best macarons in Johannesburg (I would say in South Africa!) supplied by C’est Mon Macarons.
Our events would never be complete without a photo booth. Our guests had such a lovely time taking photos and putting on the props we supplied. Vintage Umbrellas, boas and hats were some of the items we made available to the guests to have a fun time with.
We also arranged some of the games which included a message to the mom to be written on nappies to give her a laugh or support during the 3am feeds and nappy changes! Our Mom to be had to guess who the messages were from and she did a great job at that. She clearly knew who her friends are!
Gorgeous photography supplied by Cheeky Pics Photography.

Enjoy the pictures!"

Garden of Eden

11/16/2015

I loved working on this baby shower, it was fun, colorful and so easy to work with such a genuinely nice person such as Letitia.  Letitia arranged the shower on behalf of her sister Tercia, and picked a theme that perfectly suits her sisters' personality, bright and bubbly!

Setting up this function was an absolute nightmare, it was on a rooftop overlooking the wetlands in Benoni, and the wind was relentless!  Umbrellas flew from rooftops, balloons escaped, cool drink  bottles (pink, I might add) fell over, but in the end it all came together just before the function.  The reason I mention this is because I truly believe that the wind is a direct blessing from Above, so Tercia, you can always tell your little girl that!

Details I loved?
- The bright, summer colors.
- The bright, yummy cake pops

Sheep theme for Baby Blobby

9/21/2015

Today I have another super sweet baby shower to share with you.
This lucky lady's husband arranged the baby shower on her behalf {how sweet is that?},
It was a surprise shower and dad was very specific about how it should look, from the sheep theme to colour scheme and using the baby's nickname.
The shower was styled and coordinated by the lovely Zenobia from Blue Olive Events.

The theme matched the baby nursery at home in terms of theme and colors.

Details I love?
- On Friday we had Poodle cake pops, and today the cutest sheep cake pops.
- sheep cupcakes.
- the cake!
- And the prettiest of pretty candy tables.

All I can say is one lucky mommy-to-be.  Enjoy the pictures.

What a treat for the eyes I have today.  Please feast your eyes on this absolutely GORGE baby shower coordinated and styled by Ishrat from Outlandish Events.
Every little detail is perfect and pink and pretty!
My favorite detail?  The cake pops with poodle detail.  Nothing is more french than a poodle, right?

Thank you for sharing this stunning shower with us Outlandish Events!

From Ishrat:
"OOh la la, when it comes to Paris and anything French related I simply can’t resist! Attention to detail is always what sets Outlandish Events apart from the rest. It is what keeps our parties unique and how we WOW our clients and their guests. As you will see in the below photos, no stone was left upturned to make this day magical and special. This Paris Themed Baby Shower was truly a memorable event for my client.

Things to look out for:
  • We  incorporated these cute little baby shoes in the decor set up and they were something that my client could make use of for the baby as well as keep as a momento of this special day.
  • All the stops where pulled out to source Paris Themed mugs for thank you gifts.
  • Thank you gifts also included a mason jar with hot chocolate mix for the guests as it was a very chilly weekend in Johannesburg!
  • The cake table consisted of Eiffel Tower shaped cookies on a stick, pink cupcakes with black accents, pink and white macarons and those adorable french poodle cake pops.
  • Centerpieces consisted of vintage book cases and vintage suitcases finished off with Eiffel towers, beads and roses.
  • We had a photo booth set up with all types of props. The guests really had fun posing for photos!
  • Last but not least, one thing that is constantly trending in the party business and loved by many of my clients are these Pom poms!! I don’t see them going anywhere soon and without those I don’t think any party is complete!!

The afternoon kicked off with some fun and games which the guests enjoyed very much, lots of laughter and warmth to chase away the cold front! We offer game hosting for bridal and baby showers at an extra cost to our clients.

A little miracle

The baby shower we are featuring today was for mom-to-be, Sindi, that was, for all intensive purposes, long done with having babies and bringing up kids.
Her son is 18 years old and her husband works out of the country a lot, so the last thing she was planning for, was another little human in their life.  Except the powers that be had other plans!

To help her overcome her still shocked state, her friends decided what she needed was a proper, big celebration and planned this beautiful baby shower for her.   Theme, French Vintage.

What I love about this shower:
  1. There is champagne for all the non-pregnant guests.
  2. The Cakes!  Look how yummy those cakes look.  I almost got into my car and drove to Alberton to get me a piece of cake!
  3. That nappy cake.
  4. This stunning venue that I did not know about.

Enjoy the pictures.

A Double Celebration

Baby shower decor ideas and theme ideas
I absolutely loved planning this function.  A birthday and a baby on the way - a definite reason for a huge, double celebration.  What made it so much fun?  The fact that I had not seen someone so excited about a celebration in a very, very long time and that Philile was one of the nicest, good spirited people I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with.

When Philile called me she had very clear instructions: sophisticated, lots of detail and green color scheme with touches of yellow.  She already booked a venue at the very elegant Signature Restaurant in Brooklyn, so I had a lovely canvass to work with, which is always a bonus.

Enjoy the pictures and have a lovely weekend!

I love picnics.  There is something about sitting on the grass, surrounded by trees and blue skies that really soothes my soul and rejuvenates my spirit.  Therefore I am a big fan of making any occasion a picnic when I can.

Today I am sharing a few pictures of a baby shower picnic we did earlier this year.  They are not the best quality, sun/shadow going on there, but hopefully it will still give you a few ideas for your next special event.

A star is born

This baby shower was so much fun to put together.  Victoria asked for a star theme in colors of white & gold, and I went merrily on my way.

Besides decor, she wanted some games for the guest to play as well as a thank you gift for each person. I decided on 'baby shower bingo' and 'steal-the-chocolate' as both are fun and quick!

Enjoy the pictures.

I know that some people dread games at baby showers, and for good reason.  Some of them are horrible.  But I also do feel that a game adds an element of fun and giggles to the event that we definitely want.

I adapted this "Match the baby with the Celebrity' game from an Australian blog: For the Love of George. For the original international celebrity version, click here.

Print 2 questionnaires per A4 page, landscape, cut out and you are ready to go.

Cancer - a feared disease that change/affect and take lives on a daily basis.  If you or your family have not been affected by cancer - be so very thankful.
But those who have know the amount of money, care, support and supplies needed to take care of a cancer patient.  And that is where today's post comes in.
Cuppa for CANSA events.
You and anyone and everyone, can help raise funds to help someone with cancer, by hosting a Cuppa for CANSA tea party fundraising event.

Cuppa for Cansa raises funds to train new volunteers, to provide home care for chemo patients, provide supplies and medicine's to those who cannot afford it.  Read more or donate here:  http://www.cuppa.org.za/about-cuppa-for-cansa

Today we are featuring a cuppa for CANSA event by Laura - owner at Work of Heart, based in Johannesburg.
Hopefully it will inspire you to host your own Cuppa For CANSA event in 2015!

From Laura:
"Tea (n.) A hug in a cup

My mom has always felt strongly about supporting the Cancer Association. Both her mother & grandmother had cancer & passed away at an early age, so it was very meaningful for her to host a Cuppa for CANSA tea party in their memory. It’s also a cause close to my heart, & it was an honor to help with the planning & the décor.
