This year I am really going to try and share a lot more pretty parties than I did in 2023.
So I am happy to kick of on a high with this beautiful baby shower held for Maggie & Zack.

I really loved the use of blue and yellow for the flowers, which was what caught my eye in the first place. and the beautiful, open and kind smile from mom-to-be Maggie.

Today I am so super chuffed to be sharing this next level, no horsing around, birthday celebration for Isabelle.  
Debbie, your attention to detail is crazy and I love the way you incorporated the horse theme in every little detail on the day.  
These girls must have had the best day, so much fun and so many things to do, I would love having a day like this with my besties, for sure!

"Gorgeous Isabelle, now 10, is just as happy cantering on her Horse, Bovril, as she is having her hair curled and clasped into place with baby’s breath, pjs on and awaiting her friends to join her for a magnificent horse-themed, spa-pampering, teepee-sleepover party! Truly a dream come true for any young lady!
Styling this party was a privilege and a joy, it’s always answered prayer when a party comes out how I had envisioned it or even MORE exquisitely, and THIS party was one of those!!!! Seeing the girls’ faces upon arrival was priceless as they put their goodies down at their personalized teepee tent. The girls spent late afternoon being pampered top to toe, literally, then grazing on the most exquisite savory grazing board while drinking their Chardonn-hay!!! When they felt like satisfying their sweet-tooth, they headed over to the WATCH ME WHIP, WATCH ME NEIGH-NEIGH dessert station and the most incredible Colt Cremery where there was bottomless soft serve ice-creams served, which the girls could top with sprinkles, flakes, or caramel and chocolate sauce.
Once they wanted to settle down, there were bottles of water, popcorn and little party boxes full of sweet treats, all for the ‘mane’ event, the evening movie. The girls could go and ‘Adopt a pony’ which came named in the most beautiful boxes designed to resemble a stable, with a rosette and pony name on. Once they were ready for bed, had filled their gorgeous personalized tote bags full of treats all over, they could head to the hot chocolate station (It’s pasture bedtime!), find their personalized horse mug, make hot chocolate, grab themselves a blanket, and settle into their teepee for sleep."

So today I am sharing the party of a little girl, Amelie, who's mom I admire a lot and like to follow for mom advice, lots of inspiration, learning materials and just great ideas on modern parenting.

I came across Adéle's instagram page a few years ago and have been an avide follower since day one.  I can try and go into detail, but it would be much more insightful to just head over to her instagram page, instagram.com/_dfordandelion_ and see for yourself, then head over to her blog to read and follow her wonderful articles, as Adéle puts it....as we play our way through the early childhood years, motherhood, education and further research, dfordandelion.co.za.  

So when I saw little Amelie's birthday pictures, I wanted to share them, as it mademe happy looking at them - I think most of you know by now that this is my only measure for sharing something over here.

So, the theme for Amélie’s 5th birthday was ‘circus’. My husband and I decorated Schleich and Safari Ltd animals using off-cuts of fabric, paper, pom-poms, sequins and ribbon. I had far too much fun dressing them up! Here is a list of the suppliers:

For entertainment I set up a painting activity (I included one picture of Amélie as I don’t want to share images of the other children). I bought inexpensive animal figurines, sprayed them white and set out paints, buttons, feathers and pompoms so that each child can paint and decorate his/her own animal. They enjoyed it very much. Then we also set out some dress up clothes. Each child received a party pack with some temporary tattoos, a moustache and a red nose to play with. They loved the dress up clothing and hair. Amélie took pictures of them all dressed up with our polaroid camera. 

Of course we decided on Quinn's theme with Quinn's permission ...at the moment she is mad about fairies, butterflies and everything magical. 
Because we do not live in SA anymore, we have not seen our family and friends since February 2021, we decided to make it a special occasion for all of us.

​Mom Nadia used to own and run Vintage on Main, a guesthouse and function venue, based in Waterkloof, and since their move, mom Lanette has taken over, so this was obviously the venue of choice for the familie's South African reunion. 

My favorite parts?  Not any specific, one thing. I just love how Nadia managed to create a beautiful, airy, light and cohesive magical world, which I am sure, Quinn adored.

Our first post of the year and boy, is it a stunner! 
Every year I look forward to the parties that Mom, Lisa, puts together for her kiddies, Ben & Charlotte.  
Lisa is the owner of Lisa Walter Interiors, and you guys, you can see this in every detail of her parties!  One day I will earn enough to fly Lisa down to Pretoria to decorate my house. #lifegoals

I could not decide on only a few photographs, as I am just so completely taken with every single detail!  Even as I adult I would love this explorer party, haha!

Hi everyone - I know it has been some time since I have shared something on the blog, but life is crazy busy at the moment, do you find the same on your side?

I came across this Mexican theme bridal shower on facebook, and was just amazed at the effort and detail that the planners put into this celebration. Another thing that caught myattention was the absolute joy and love that you could see for the lady of the hour, visible in every picture!

This spectacular kitchen tea was organised around an incredible bride that always puts everyone above herself. The idea was to show her our sincere appreciation for all she has done for us. Having attended numerous kitchen tea’s in our lives we decided to host one that’s not your run of the mill kitchen tea but rather a celebration as it should be.

What greater theme than the colourful celebratory genre that is Mexican Fiesta / Frida Kahlo. We also tried to refrain from the normal kitchen tea and bring a dash of sass into the event without making anyone uncomfortable.

This was an amazing group of bridesmaids – each with their own sense of style that reflected clearly in the celebration. This theme also proofed to be quite easy in the sense that anything goes as long as it’s fun and colourful which made it easy for the bridesmaids to express their flair with the tasks given to them.

One of my favorite accounts to follow on Instagram is that of Caley Rosenebrg - I love her style and she just seems to always do everything with so much enthusiams and buckets full of fun - I love that! 

Today I am sharing the birthday celebration of the of her little one's, Sophie and Georgie. So much prettiness and amazing detail.  

As I am typing this I am also thinking of Caley and all her family and friends, hoping they are safe, and that the lootings and unrest did not reach them.  But praying for your safety and hoping that all will return to normal soon X

It is original and fun, and something about the colors, the sparkle and the contrast of the colors with the white setting, just keeps drawing the eyes back for another look. 
I think everything works so well together, that it is hard to pinpoint a few favorite details.

The Background
When your “client” is a little boy that LOVES The Guardians of the Galaxy, you have to really dig your heels deep into your creativity as character setups can be a challenge! Especially when it is not a popular one and you cannot rely on Pinterest for sparking off any ideas. The end result speaks for itself!
 
The Theme
I used a lot of metallic colours with silver as the hero colour. Foiled curtains, balloons and tinsel were used in the decor to create that ‘Galaxy’ feel with some Chinese lanterns in a more muted tone to break the metallics. I added some perspex cubes as the transparent look tied in perfectly with the feel of the theme. 
 
It was carried through to the table settings that was set up with stickers of Groot (his favourite character!) on the chair backs, some scattered glitter stars for texture and character stickers for the little ones. I added some matt paper stars to bring some variety into the metallic mix. Each little one received a goodie bag filled to the brim with treats - the PVC bags were a perfect fit for the theme!

So excited to share this beautiful 'Únder the Sea' set-up by Natalia from Dacon Events. 

Little Santiago is obsessed with the Ocean and all sea life, especially the Orca whale.  To accentuate the stark contrast of the orca whale, Natalia worked with a monochrome color scheme, which was such a clever idea.  Striking and really made every element pop.

This year, I was once again so happy to get the call from mom Shadi, to plan and style Dodzwi's 10th birthday celebration.
I always love the freedom she gives me, and I love creating something cool for Dodz, because he is just such a great guy who gets so excited while I do set-up! 
Polite, fun, well mannered and and his mom's biggest love.  

Dodz, you are totes too legit to QUIT!

Because Shadi decided to have the party at home this year, I decided to just do one focus wall.  I got inspiration from Outlandish Events - who dreamed up the original concept.
I tried to avoid balloons, so I used the bandanas and caps to bring some height and depth to the back-drop. 
​The kids then also used these as props during their HIP HOP class by dance teacher, Senzi.
Other than that I used lots of themde treats to bring the hip hop style to life.

Boutique Petit caught my eye during lockdown, while spending hours scrolling Instagram!
I immediately loved Kerrith and Simone's style.

Today I am sharing one of their mid-Covid celebrations: a Drive-by Baby Shower.
It is gorgeous, I love the color scheme and the party bags are so pretty and sophisticated.

During these trying times, we had to get creative with a baby shower celebration, our client wanted to create something extra special for her sister who was welcoming her first baby.
As guests drove by to wish the mommy to be, they were able to grab a quick cup of coffee from our custom barista station and a custom gift bag party favour, while keeping a social distance.
 
Event was styled and set up by Boutique Petit.
They are based in CT.

I think one of the most attractive characteristics, in people, for me, is an absolute love for life.
Shadi, I love your love for life!  It's contagious. I think you will almost try anything once. And Iove celebrating and planning all the milestone's through your and Dodzwa's life journey.  

I had such a good time planning and styling this event - even though it was short notice, the view at the venue, and how everything came together, more than made up for that. It was meant to be! 

The venue is amazing, I did not know something like this existed in Gauteng.  This is a restaurant during the day, 8am to 5pm, in a private nature reserve, so you should visit if you are looking for something new to do over a weekend.  For those more actively inclined, hiking, biking, canoeing and swimming facilities/trials available.

Natalia, owner and creative at Dacon Events​, sent in this very stunning TRIBAL WILD ONE themed birthday party she put together for little Santiago. 

From Natalia: I added the tribal look to change it up a bit from the usual wild one themes. It really came out beautifully. The little party packs were custom done too for every child. It was an indoor and outdoor setup with cute little pallet furniture and teepees to create a perfect tribal effect for all the little kiddos. 

Look out for some of my favorite elements:
​- The custom made feather head piece worn by little Santiago
- The marshmallow pops that she tied together at the top so that it resembles a little Teepee Tent
- The Donut stands!
- The little fondant 'Tribal Animals' that was placed all over the candy table and on top of the cake

These two, very cool and gorgeous people, is expecting their first born.  I think most of us, who are already mommy's, can just imagine how scary it must be to know you will be delivering your baby during this crazy, upside down time which is Covid.

Full hospitals, weird virus hanging around, no husband by your side, no family to come and say hallo and help you. It is all just a little sad and very scary.  So while I am here, on the subject, to all the mom's who delivered and are still to deliver their babies, well done. You are so brave and strong and my thoughts are with every single mom out there,  You Rock!

I think the most disappointing thing is that all the mom's are missing out on their big baby shower celebrations.  I know for me it was one of the biggest highlights of my pregnancy. 

But if you have a friend called SIya, she will make sure that you still experience a lovely day full of spoils.  Siya called me and said she wanted to plan a virtual baby shower for her friend's Brian and KG.  So we planned a small baby shower set-up at their home, with cake and balloons.  Siya also organised Finding Light Photography for a baby shower shoot and lots of friends drove by and dropped gifts at the couple's gate.
I mena, that is friend goals right there.
